Our vision for Sakaw Gardens is a simple one: where people of all ages and backgrounds come together in the experience of growing food.
Sakaw Gardens is made possible through Millhurst Community League, community members, partners and sponsors with financial donations and in kind services & materials. We would like to thank our sponsors from 2021 for all their support and welcome future support through our sponsorship program as detailed below.
The next phase of Sakaw Gardens includes a rain roof, fence, gazebo, wheelchair beds & path and invite businesses and community members to donate towards phase 2. We will acknowledge donations via our sponsorship recognition program which includes social media, newsletters website and acknowledgment on signage at the garden site.
We are also extremely grateful for financial support. To make a monetary donation, please make cheque payable to Millhurst Community League with “community garden” on the memo line and send the cheque to the Millhurst office at 5420-19A Avenue or you can make a donation via PayPal below. Alternatively, please contact Myrna Peters at to arrange for pick up of your donation.
MAKING SAKAW GARDENS WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE!
A dream to make Sakaw Gardens accessible for those in wheelchairs was created to honour long time community volunteer Pat Whaley. Pat was in wheelchair and could not access the Sakaw site due to limited pathways. Unfortunately Pat will never have the opportunity to enjoy gardening from a place of comfort in her chair as she passed away November 2020. Funds have been acquired for the wheelchair accessible path and plots but we are excited to allow the opportunity for her friends and community to be part of the difference being made in Pat's name. You can make donation on behalf of Pat to purchase a wheelchair accessible picnic tables. Use the donate button here or e-mail vicepresident@millhurst.ca to arrange make alternate donation arrangements.
