About the event

Wheat is the staff of life in most parts of the world and is the grain most commonly used in North America. But there is more to it than the white flour we typically buy in the grocery store. Learn how to use the whole wheat ‘berry’, wheat bran, wheat germ, the difference between flours and how to use them to their best advantage, and how to sprout it. We’ll grind wheat, crack wheat and learn to make bulgar. Wheat is a major source of starch and energy, providing a substantial amount of other components essential for health: protein, B vitamins, minerals and dietary fiber. We’ll sample some whole wheat bread, and other dishes made with whole wheat.
