About the event

About the Workshop:

  • Fall is all about winter squash. Butternut squash, pumpkin and the myriad of different ones you’ll find in the grocery store bins this time of year. Squash is highly nutritious, lends itself to many culinary ways to experience it, and it seems that every culture has a unique way of preparing it. My personal favourite squash is butternut, and my favourite way to eat it is roasted, or in a bisque. This time of year in my house we like pumpkin chowder, butternut squash bisque, roasted squash, pumpkin & meatballs over rice, pumpkin pancakes, pumpkin scones, pumpkin bread, pumpkin muffins, pumpkin cake, pumpkin cookies, pumpkin pie of course, pumpkin dip with gingersnaps, . . . . to name a few. We'll be looking at all sorts of ways to enjoy squash in our workshop, and we'll sample a few recipes. If you have a favourite recipe for pumpkin, or any other kind of winter squash, please bring it. If you'd like to prepare a dish to share, please do. Let's learn new ways of using this iconic fall vegetable, from each other!
