Looking for fun, active, low-cost play ideas to try at home? Join us for this free, interactive 90-minute workshop designed for families with children aged 3–5 (siblings welcome!). You’ll learn purposeful play strategies, connect with other local families, and go home with a take-away activity.

PLAYshop: Learn How to Use Play to Support Family Connection
We are hosting workshops for families with young children (3-5 years-old). This workshop provides parents with skills and ideas to support their child’s development through purposeful play. The workshop is fun, easy, and includes low-cost active play ideas that you can do at home. This type of play supports family connection and boosts children’s growth.
When: Thursday, November 5, 2026 | 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM
Where: Millhurst Hall - 5811 19a Ave NW, Edmonton, AB T6L 4J8, Canada
Cost: Free
Eligibility: Must have at least one child aged 3–5 in attendance. Siblings are welcome to attend. Capped at 10 families!
The PLAYshop workshop is being evaluated by researchers at the University of Alberta.
Participating includes:
Attending a free 60-75 minutes workshop with other families.
Completing 2 brief surveys during the workshop time.
Accessing resources with active play ideas and tips.
In total, these tasks may take 65-90 minutes. All information collected will be kept confidential.
This project has ethics approval from the University of Alberta (Ethics ID: Pro00159616).
PLEASE NOTE: Only 1 registration is needed per family. You will be asked below to list the total number of children attending so we have enough supplies for everyone.
